This made-for-television special similar to the "Kennedy Center Honors" will salute distinguished African-Americans from around the nation for their trailblazing accomplishments in the world of business, banking, civil rights, education, entertainment, medicine, politics and more.

The awards will be named in honor of historical African-Americans from the Commonwealth of Virginia whose contributions made a significant impact in Virginia, America and world and helped to pave the way for future generations. In addition, this program will call attention to the Richmond Region?’s leading role in African-American heritage in a significant way.

The event and broadcast are planned for February 2007. More information will be posted here when available.
